Obtaining dual citizenship of Sri Lanka Immigration matters in Sri Lanka taken to high grounds in the recent past with visa and document services is playing important role. Declaration that the father/mother has not acquired citizenship of a country other than Sri Lanka at the time of child's birth. Handing Over Applications Duly completed application should be forwarded with the required documents and certified copies of the same to a Sri Lanka Overseas Mission or to the Citizenship Division of the department within the period of one year from the date of the child's birth. Steps of processing applications at the Citizenship Branch 1. Attestation of the copies of the required original documents. 2. The applications are registered in the "Section 11 Register" under a serial number. The applications with lack of required documents " Inform the applicant to send the outstanding documents. " If the applicant does not respond within a month, a reminder is sent. Note: " If the police report is negative application is being rejected. Appeals are considered. " The names of the children of the applicant can also be included to the same certificate if the applicant made a request under section 14.
